Lanes does not collect, store, transmit or share any data about you with us or anyone else. It talks to GitHub on your behalf, and that's all.
What Lanes collects
Nothing. There is no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising SDK, no device identifier, no telemetry, no usage metrics. Lanes has no backend, so there is no Lanes-operated server to send anything to. The App Store privacy declaration filed with this app is Data Not Collected.
Who Lanes talks to
- GitHubLanes reads repositories, commits, branches, tags, pull requests, issues and notifications from GitHub's API (
api.github.com), sending your access token so GitHub knows it's you. Signing in happens ongithub.com, in your browser. What GitHub does with those requests is covered by GitHub's privacy statement. - AvatarsProfile pictures are loaded from GitHub. For a commit whose author has no GitHub account, Lanes asks Gravatar (
gravatar.com) for a picture using a hash of the author email recorded in the commit, as Gravatar requires. The email address itself is not sent.
That's the complete list. There is no Lanes-operated server, no first-party backend, and no “phone home”: not on launch, not on crash, not ever. Updates are delivered only through the App Store.
What stays on your device
- Your GitHub access tokenStored in the Keychain. It's sent only to GitHub, and never leaves your device any other way.
- Cached GitHub dataYour repository list, both inboxes and each repository's history, kept so they show immediately. Signing out deletes the token and all of these caches.
- Your preferencesRepositories you've added, the owner filter, inbox filters, which pull requests and issues you've already seen, and recently opened repositories, stored in the app's local container.
- Draft tagsTags you've created but not pushed stay on the device until you push or delete them.
What Lanes can do on GitHub
When you sign in, Lanes asks GitHub for the repo and read:project scopes. repo is the scope GitHub requires to read private repositories, and it also allows writing to them: the only thing Lanes ever writes is a tag, and only when you choose to push one. read:project lets Lanes show an issue's status on GitHub Projects. Lanes never changes GitHub's read state for your notifications. You can revoke Lanes' access at any time from GitHub's Applications settings.
Device permissions
None. Lanes doesn't ask for your location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone, notifications or local network.
Third parties and tracking
No third-party SDKs are bundled. There is no IDFA, no advertising identifier, no fingerprinting. The only other parties Lanes contacts are GitHub and Gravatar, as described above, to show you your own data.
This website
This site has no analytics or tracking, sets no cookies, and loads everything, fonts included, from this site itself. The screenshots are images served from this site, taken from the app's built-in demo data.
Children
Lanes does not collect data from anyone, children included.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the “last updated” date above will change with it.
